Our commitment
The Equality Foundation is committed to ensuring that our services, programmes, and digital presence are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that equality includes removing barriers that prevent full participation.
Physical accessibility
Our community hub and programme venues are chosen with accessibility in mind. We aim to ensure:
- Step-free access to all public areas
- Accessible toilet facilities
- Adequate lighting and clear signage
- Accessible parking where available
- Quiet spaces for people with sensory needs
If you have specific access needs, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Digital accessibility
We strive to make our website and digital communications accessible in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. This includes:
- Clear, readable text with sufficient contrast
- Keyboard-navigable interfaces
- Alt text on images and meaningful link labels
- Responsive design that works on all screen sizes
- Compatibility with screen readers and assistive technologies
Communication and language
We recognise that language itself can be a barrier. We offer:
- Bilingual support in Somali, Arabic, and other community languages
- Easy-read documents for people with learning disabilities
- Interpreter services where needed
- Clear, jargon-free communication
Programme accessibility
Our employment, wellbeing, and community programmes are designed to be inclusive. We welcome participants with disabilities and will make reasonable adjustments to ensure you can fully benefit from our services. This includes flexible session formats, adapted materials, and one-to-one support where needed.
Feedback and improvements
We are always learning. If you encounter any accessibility barriers on our website, at our venues, or in our services, please let us know so we can address them:
