Our commitment
The Equality Foundation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We believe everyone has the right to protection from harm, abuse, and exploitation, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, or background.
What safeguarding means to us
Safeguarding is not just about preventing harm , it is about creating environments where people feel safe, heard, and respected. This includes:
- Protecting children and vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation
- Ensuring all staff and volunteers are properly vetted and trained
- Providing clear reporting channels for concerns
- Responding promptly and seriously to every safeguarding concern
- Creating a culture where people feel safe to speak up
Our policies
We maintain comprehensive safeguarding policies covering:
- Child protection and adult safeguarding
- Safe recruitment, including DBS checks for all relevant roles
- Code of conduct for staff, volunteers, and trustees
- Data protection and confidentiality in safeguarding cases
- Whistleblowing and reporting procedures
Reporting a concern
If you have a safeguarding concern about anyone involved with The Equality Foundation, please contact our Safeguarding Lead immediately:
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, please call 999 or contact your local police.
Training and DBS
All staff and volunteers who work with children or vulnerable adults undergo enhanced DBS checks and receive safeguarding training as part of their induction. Refresher training is provided annually.
Working with partners
We expect all partner organisations, contractors, and funders who engage with our beneficiaries to meet equivalent safeguarding standards. We include safeguarding requirements in all partnership agreements.
